CEP810 Teaching for Understanding with Technology (Summer 2012)

Instructor: Allison Keller

This course started my journey through the Master of Arts in Educational Technology (MAET) program. I was introduced to Technological Pedological and Content Knowledge (TPACK) framework. I also began developing my Professional Learning Network. Various technologies were introduced to us and explored to help us enhance teaching and learning. This was the beginning of the evolution of my thinking on technology in education.

CEP811 Adapting Innovative Technology to Education (Summer 2012)

Instructor: Allison Keller

In this course I learned how to re-purpose resources to help design new learning experiences. I was exposed to a large number of different technologies and learned how they could be used in an educational setting. Technologies such as new as Twitter and as old as Polaroid photography were used in new exciting ways. Through exploration and play I became more creative and inivative.

 

CEP812 Applying Educational Technology to Practice (Summer 2012)

Instructor: Allison Keller

This course taught me how to use technology to address some of the issues facing the educational world. I gained intellectual insight into various problems of educational practice. I also explored how technology can help students with special needs. The major assignment was to try to solve a 'Wicked' problem with peers.

 

CEP800 Learning in School and Other Settings (Summer 2014)

Instructor: Will Cain

This course provided me with insight on how students learn and what influences their learning. Misconceptions were explored, as well as how they could be avoided or rectified. Different types of technology were used to help students learn outside of the classroom. The history of teaching and learning was also studied.

TE846 Accommodating Differences in Literacy Learners (Summer 2014)

Instructor: Amanda Smith

This course introduced several developmental strategies to support literacy. The main project was a case study on a struggling learner. I created lessons and assessments to promote reading, writing and vocabulary in mathematics for that student. I learned about literacy interventions that can be implemented in all content areas.

CEP822 Approaches to Educational Research (Fall 2014)

Instructor: Leigh Wolf

The focus of this course was to explore the different types of educational research. The works of others were reviewed and their validity was questioned, as well as their rational. I selected a topic of interest, explored credible sources; and evaluated qualitative and quantitative data. The research review project associated with this course looked into researchable problems and writing proposals.

 

CEP805 Learning Mathematics with Technology (Spring 2015)

Instructor: Ralph Putnam

This course gave me an opportunity to evaluate mathematics online tools. Part of the course was to create a rubric as a class that helped identify important criteria in a tech tool. I learned that a lot more goes into selecting an effective matTh tool than just flashy graphics. The main project was to create a website to recommend these resources to a specific audience.

 

CEP820 Teaching Students Online (Fall 2015)

Instructor: Anne Heintz

In this course I learned how to create an online management system. The goal was to improve student learning and engagement using online resources. We practiced the use of screencasting as an educational tool. I created a unit on exponential growth with a zombie apocalypse theme.

 

CEP815 Technology and Leadership (Spring 2016)

Instructor: Missy Crosby

This course gave me the tools to become a effective technology leader. The seven different leadership styles were also explored. Assignments included writing a memo to other technology stakeholders and planning a professional development day. The main project was to create a professional vision.

 

CEP807 Capstone Portfolio Course (Summer 2016)

Instructor: Matthew Koehler

This course required me to develop an online portfolio. It provided an opportunity to showcase my work, learning and development throughout the program. Peer collaboration allowed me to modify and perfect my online portfolio. I was also able to reflect on my past goals and evaluate my future goals.
